Treasury Department Proposes Guidelines for ‘Trump Accounts’
The Treasury Department has proposed new guidance on how contributions to ‘Trump accounts’ could be managed by both employers and employees. This initiative aims to broaden the savings opportunities for these recently established accounts.
Parents might have the option to contribute up to $2,500 per year, tax-free, directly from their paycheck to these accounts. This aligns with the proposal’s goal to expand savings potential for families.
The accounts in question became available for any child born during President Donald Trump’s second term. Each eligible child receives $1,000 in federal seed money intended for investment purposes.
The move marks a significant step in increasing the financial flexibility for families, providing a structured savings path for future generations.
