Mackenzie Dern retained her 115-pound championship at UFC 330, defeating Gillian Robertson in a unanimous decision. Dern, now 17-5, successfully defended the title she claimed at UFC 321. The judges scored the fight 49-46, 49-46, and 48-47 in favor of Dern. “I wanted to get the submission with Gillian,” Dern remarked, emphasizing her aim for a submission victory.

In the first round, Dern nearly achieved her goal with a choke hold, but the round ended before she could finish Robertson, whose face turned pinkish-red under the pressure. The remaining rounds were less eventful, characterized mainly by grappling with limited striking. Despite the subdued action, Dern’s daughter encouraged her from the audience.

Following this, Islam Makhachev faced Ian Machado Garry in the main event. Makhachev sought to set a UFC record with his 17th consecutive win and stand alone beyond UFC Hall of Famer Anderson Silva. Makhachev, 28-1, remained unbeaten since UFC 192 in 2015 and had secured the welterweight title against Jack Della Maddalena in UFC 322.

Another emotional highlight came when Edson Barboza retired after losing to Esteben Ribovics. At 40, Barboza ended a career that began in 2009. He received a standing ovation, marked by Fight of the Night honors and personal dedication, as he laid down his gloves in the octagon.

UFC returned to Philadelphia for its third numbered event, the first since 2019. Fans packed the arena, eager for action. Local fighter Jeremiah Wells won via submission on opening night, changing boos into cheers. Meanwhile, Tresean Gore faced adversity in his unanimous decision win over Vecente Luque.
