Ukraine Intensifies Drone Attacks on Russia

On Sunday, Ukraine launched a large-scale drone attack across Russia, resulting in the deaths of at least six people. Russia’s Ministry of Defense reported destroying 822 Ukrainian drones overnight. According to Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, about 600 drones were detected approaching the Russian capital, with a third intercepted over the Moscow region.

In the Moscow region, an 83-year-old man died due to a Ukrainian drone striking a private residence, as stated by local Governor Andrey Vorobyov. He also mentioned a blaze at a warehouse owned by Russian retail giant Wildberries in Podolsk, believed to be caused by a Ukrainian assault. Images circulated by Russian media showed thick black smoke rising from the affected location.

The southwestern Rostov region of Russia suffered a drone attack involving over 150 drones, leading to the deaths of five people, reported local Governor Yury Slyusar. This attack damaged multiple homes and a railway station while sparking a forest fire.

This year, Ukraine has increased its offensive on Russia, focusing on military industries and energy facilities with long-range missiles and drone swarms. The intensifying assault also targets large Wildberries depots, destroying merchandise worth billions, impacting Russian civilians amid the ongoing four-and-a-half-year conflict between Moscow and Kyiv.

In a separate event, a Russian missile attack on Ukraine’s Kryvyi Rih resulted in two fatalities and 14 injuries. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy shared this information on social media and noted the death of another person in Sumy. Additionally, a Russian assault on Kyiv caused multiple fires and injured six individuals. Zelenskyy commented on the situation, stating that Russian forces target civilian infrastructure wherever possible. He mentioned ongoing air raid alerts and another wave of Russian drone attacks.
