The Cincinnati Bengals signed defensive back Ceyair Wright as an undrafted free agent in April after his college football tenure at Nebraska. However, Wright’s interests extended beyond football; he also pursued acting. Recently, the Bengals announced Wright left the team “to pursue other opportunities.” He was then placed on the Exempt/Left Squad list.
Ceyair Wright, known for his performances on the field with the Nebraska Cornhuskers, made the decision to switch his focus to television and film opportunities. Dan Hoard, a renowned announcer for the Bengals, confirmed Wright’s departure via a social media post. Bengals head coach Zac Taylor provided further insight into Wright’s decision.
I don’t know how to properly define it for him. He called us last night and let us know that he had an opportunity,Taylor stated.I know it was a difficult decision for him. I think two things he’s really passionate about were colliding and he decided to pursue this opportunity. So, he’s a great kid, comes from a great university.
Wright had expressed a dedication to his roles on the field and his potential in Hollywood. Taylor continued, “We wish him the best. He was fun to be around. He really competed hard for us. It was fun watching him play. I thought he was ascending as a player. But, obviously, he’s chosen to go a different path.”
Beyond football, Wright has amassed several acting credits. He portrayed LeBron James’ son in “Space Jam: A New Legacy” and held a role in “Training Day.” His television appearances include parts in the sit-coms “Grown-ish” and “2 Broke Girls.”
In response to Wright’s departure, the Bengals signed Matthew McDoom as his replacement. His shift in career is a reminder of how athletes can have diverse interests and pursue multiple career paths.
