Alaskans Conclude Voting in Governor Race

On Tuesday, Alaskans finished casting their votes for a new governor. This follows the end of current Governor Mike Dunleavy’s term limits. The election includes over a dozen candidates vying for the position.

Some leading candidates include former state Senate Minority Leader Tom Begich and business owner Bernadette Wilson. Democratic candidate Jonathan Kreiss-Tomkins and former Anchorage Mayor Dave Bronson are also in the race. The primary election will determine the top four candidates moving on to the general election. The top candidates will be chosen regardless of their political party affiliation.

Polls for the election closed at 12 a.m. EDT on Wednesday.
