Alaska’s voting process reaches its conclusion on Tuesday, as Rep. Nick Begich (R-Alaska) strives to secure his congressional seat for another term later this year.
Among the contenders, Independent Bill Hill has emerged as a prominent challenger in the state’s at-large seat race. Anchorage pastor and Democrat Matt Schultz initially led Hill in earlier polls. However, Schultz withdrew from the race and endorsed Hill according to local media reports.
In Alaska’s distinctive election system, the top four candidates from this primary will proceed to the general election. This outcome is independent of their political affiliations. Voters must finalize their decisions by the time polls close, which is at 12 a.m. EDT on Wednesday.
