Wyoming’s governorship is open as voters head to the polls to select Republican and Democratic candidates. Incumbent Governor Mark Gordon, a Republican, cannot seek another term. This situation has drawn multiple candidates to compete for their party’s nomination.
Megan Degenfelder, the Superintendent of Public Instruction in Wyoming, is one of the Republican hopefuls. She has received an endorsement from former President Trump, whose backing has shown varying degrees of success in recent primaries. This endorsement still ranks as a desired boost among Republican contenders.
Retired U.S. Marine Col. Brent Bien, who previously finished second to Gordon in the 2022 GOP primary, is making another attempt. This time, he does not face an incumbent and has gained the support of the state GOP.
State Sen. Eric Barlow and Curt Blake, who works in rodeo production, are also competing in the Republican primary. This mix of candidates provides voters with diverse options within the party.
The Democratic primary presents Ken Casner as the sole contestant. Casner has been the Democratic candidate in the past two gubernatorial elections, held in 2018 and 2022, making him the expected nominee for this election as well.
Polling stations are scheduled to close at 9 p.m. EDT, marking the end of this decisive day for Wyoming’s political future.
