LaMelo Ball has garnered attention with his impressive car collection since gaining recognition in the basketball world. Recently, the Minnesota Timberwolves guard opted to hire a personal driver to navigate his new NBA surroundings, as revealed by his brother, Lonzo Ball.
During a podcast episode of “Curious Mike,” Lonzo shared insights into his brother’s spending habits alongside Brooklyn Nets forward Michael Porter Jr. When asked who spends the most money in the Ball family, Lonzo noted, “The one who has the most, LaMelo.”
LaMelo’s move from Charlotte to Minnesota after a trade to the Timberwolves included a distinctive Charlotte penthouse, capturing public interest. Lonzo mentioned that his younger brother possesses ten cars, indicating that employing a driver might reduce LaMelo’s time behind the wheel, decreasing accident risks.
Lonzo suggested LaMelo should consider vehicles beyond the exotic category, such as Lamborghinis, which the athlete has favored. Reflecting on his sibling’s car choices, Lonzo commented, “He’ll buy a $1 million car and then just immediately damage it.” He questioned the logic behind purchasing such expensive models only to ruin them soon after.
Despite incidents on the road, Lonzo clarified that LaMelo hasn’t been in accidents, although he frequently encounters driving situations. In a heartfelt moment from an NBA game in Chicago, Lonzo embraced LaMelo on the court, highlighting their brotherly bond.
Lonzo’s NBA journey has included being drafted by the Lakers with the second overall pick in 2017. His career saw him play for the New Orleans Pelicans and Chicago Bulls before joining the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2025. The Cavaliers later traded him to the Utah Jazz, who released him without an appearance. Injuries have troubled Lonzo, sidelining him for over two years, with the athlete acknowledging he might not return to his previous playing level.
LaMelo, drafted by the Hornets as the third overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, was traded to the Timberwolves, marking another career chapter. The trade involved fellow players Josh Green and multiple draft picks exchanged for Naz Reid. This transition adds a new dimension to LaMelo’s basketball journey.
