Democrats Face Pressure Over Hasan Piker’s Comments
Abdul El-Sayed, the Democratic Senate nominee from Michigan, is under scrutiny due to his campaign’s association with streamer Hasan Piker. Prominent Democrats urge distancing from Piker, following his controversial remarks about U.S. Jews. Ari Fleischer, former White House press secretary, analyzed the issue on ‘America Reports’, focusing on antisemitism concerns within the far-left.
Democratic Senators Elissa Slotkin of Michigan and Jacky Rosen of Nevada have condemned Hasan Piker’s statements. Piker claimed Jewish Americans could face consequences for their support of Israel. He warned, “If Jews in America keep putting this idea out there that they are singularly invested in Israel, eventually someone is going to come around and take action, not against the state of Israel, mind you, but against American Jews.”
Elissa Slotkin, seen as a potential 2028 presidential contender, strongly responded on social media. She stated, “No community should face the threat of violence for their political views. Period. That includes being pro-Israel, pro-Palestine, pro-choice, pro-life, or any other cause.” She emphasized that blaming victims for violence further endangers them.
No one should causally suggest anyone, Jews or otherwise, are to blame for being targeted, especially when antisemitism and political violence are spiking.
Jacky Rosen also criticized Piker’s comments, labeling them as a new low. She posted, “Blaming Jewish Americans for violence and hate is not just wrong; it excuses those perpetuating hate crimes. Crimes against Jews are antisemitism, plain and simple.”
Abdul El-Sayed, a progressive candidate for U.S. Senate, has distanced himself from this controversy. Despite previously ignoring Piker’s past remarks, El-Sayed now seems to acknowledge the severity of the situation.
Piker’s history of controversial comments includes statements like “America deserved 9/11” and support for policies aimed at “impoverishing the White middle-class.”
