On Wednesday, a tragic plane crash near Seldovia, Alaska, resulted in the deaths of four individuals, as reported by state authorities.
The aircraft involved, a Piper PA-24, had taken off from Anchorage and was nearing the Seldovia airport when it went down. It crashed in Seldovia Slough, close to the shoreline. The plane ended up submerged in approximately 15 feet of water. Alaska State Troopers and other responders had to wait for the tide to recede to reach the wreckage.
All four occupants of the plane were recovered and pronounced dead. The authorities have not yet released the victims’ identities, as their families need to be informed first.
The cause of the crash is not yet determined. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is conducting an investigation into the event. This incident is the second fatal aviation accident in Alaska within a week.
