Airports can often confuse travelers, especially when trying to locate a gate, baggage claim, or a lounge. LaGuardia Airport’s Terminal B introduces a new solution: a life-sized AI hologram named Bridget. This innovation aims to ease the stress of airport navigation.
Meet Bridget: LaGuardia’s AI Hologram
Bridget is an AI-powered hologram located near Terminal B’s Food Hall at LaGuardia Airport in New York. Developed by Proto, a hologram hardware company, and Holomedia’s AI Concierge Wayfinder platform, Bridget can converse and answer questions about gates, shops, and lounges.
Currently, Bridget communicates in English and Spanish, with more languages planned. The kiosk features on-screen subtitles, high-contrast displays, and a design accommodating wheelchair access. LaGuardia Gateway Partners plans to deploy more units throughout the terminal.
Enhancing the Traveler Experience
The introduction of Bridget is part of an effort to support travelers without replacing human staff. Bridget offers additional help during peak periods when staff might be busy assisting other passengers.

Capabilities of the AI Hologram
Bridget answers common airport questions that usually require searching for signs, apps, or staff. It can guide travelers to gates, shops, lounges, and baggage claim. In a provided video, Bridget helped a traveler reach Gate 19 with detailed directions and offered a QR code for further assistance.
This can be particularly helpful during busy travel days, freeing up airport staff to handle more complex inquiries.
AI Hologram Deployments in Other Airports
LaGuardia is not alone in embracing AI holograms. Miami International Airport has launched AI-powered holographic assistants. Miami’s system supports 40 languages and integrates with the airport’s online chatbot and WhatsApp assistant. This development indicates a broader trend in using AI tools to improve airport navigation.
Balancing Technology and Human Support
While AI holograms like Bridget can simplify airport navigation, their effectiveness depends on implementation. Effective AI support should provide quick assistance and still allow access to human help when required.
Concerns also arise around privacy, especially with AI integrating with biometrics and passenger data. Clear, accurate directions and a smooth handover to human support are crucial for building trust in these technologies.
As travelers look for easier ways to navigate airports, AI holograms could offer an efficient solution. Whether travelers prefer help from humans, holograms, or digital systems, technology should focus on enhancing the travel experience.
