The sports calendar is ramping up with Major League Baseball playoffs approaching. Today, the Toronto Blue Jays face the Oakland Athletics, drawing attention from bettors. The Blue Jays have shown inconsistency this season, frustrating both fans and management. Despite earlier struggles, they are now playing better baseball and could pose a threat in the American League.
Currently, Toronto is not comfortably positioned for playoffs, but they are in contention. The team is receiving contributions from various hitters, with Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hitting .350 in September. Although his power numbers are down with only eight home runs, all have been hit on the road.
“ZERO BS. JUST DAKICH. TAKE THE DON’T @ ME PODCAST ON THE ROAD. DOWNLOAD NOW!”
Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Toronto’s first baseman, has seen success on the road, much like his teammate Dylan Cease. Cease has had a standout year and is a Cy Young Award contender. With a record of 10-5, a 2.25 ERA, and a 1.04 WHIP, his efforts on the road are notable; he’s 8-1 with a 1.54 ERA outside of Toronto. While Athletics hitters have a fair history against Cease, they collectively have only 11 hits and 15 strikeouts in 43 at-bats.
The Athletics were seen as potential spoilers in the American League West but have been plagued by injuries and pitching issues. Their ownership seems focused on rebuilding for future success, particularly as they plan to move to Las Vegas. Currently, at nearly 30 games under .500, the team struggles in the league. Still, some promising players stand out in their lineup, though the starting rotation remains lacking.
Jacob Lopez, one of their pitchers, is 6-4 with a 4.71 ERA and a 1.46 WHIP. He’s shown improvement recently, allowing only 13 earned runs over 49.2 innings since the All-Star Break. However, Lopez has fared worse at home, being more effective on the road.
Currently, I plan to place a substantial run line wager on the Blue Jays, once the betting lines are available. Cease has been remarkable this season, with Toronto going 8-4 in his starts on the road. In those eight victories, they are 7-1 on the run line, prompting confidence in backing the Blue Jays with Cease on the mound.
