Royal Watchers Observe Prince William and Kate Middleton’s Responses
Recently, remarkable developments emerged with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle returning to the U.K. The return has attracted significant attention, especially concerning how Prince William and Kate Middleton are responding to these changes.
According to sources, the Prince and Princess of Wales remain discreet about Harry and Meghan’s return. A source conveyed to People magazine that William and Middleton do not feel the need to express their views publicly about the situation. They are opting for a private approach.
“They are watching this space. It’s private — they don’t feel the need to say anything or demonstrate anything outwardly,” said the source.
Expert Opinions
Kinsey Schofield, host of YouTube’s Kinsey Schofield Unfiltered, shared insights with Fox News Digital, stating that Harry and Meghan’s return won’t reset their relationship with senior royals. She highlighted how trust is earned over time and not simply by relocating.
“Prince William and Catherine don’t appear to feel any urgency whatsoever,” Schofield stated. She emphasized the need for consistent behavior if Harry is sincere about rebuilding ties with his brother.
“Harry and Meghan made the dramatic decision to return to Britain. That doesn’t mean the Prince and Princess of Wales suddenly have to rearrange their lives around them,” Schofield commented.
Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams also commented, noting that Harry’s return does not earn him favor within the royal family. While William and Kate remain calm publicly, their frustration is evident.
Concerning Impact on Royal Dynamics
Christopher Andersen, royal author, conveyed that the return of Harry and Meghan is unwelcome, particularly as it coincides with their eldest child’s transition to Eton. Despite this timing, Andersen suggests there is little speculation about their intentions.
“Even though Harry and Meghan have agreed to lie low for the next few weeks, it’s inevitable that they will be a major, and highly unwelcome, distraction,” said Andersen.
Royal expert Ian Pelham Turner highlighted potential public competition between Markle and Middleton, predicting a “royal battle” for favor with the public.
“My personal attitude is that William felt comfortable with Harry in America because he could constantly control the narrative for being the future King without any brand interference from his brother,” Turner expressed.
Challenges for King Charles
With Harry and Meghan’s return, King Charles faces challenges in choosing whether to welcome them back, considering Harry’s memoir, Spare. Decisions made by Charles could impact public opinion given Meghan’s low approval ratings—typically around 22%.
“Will Charles also risk alienating his subjects, the vast majority of whom want Harry and Meghan to return to the U.S.?” asked Andersen.
The issue of security concerning their children, Archie and Lilibet, also poses difficulties for Charles as royal protection remains in question.
