Tragic Rollover Crash Claims Life of Infant in Chicago
A tragic accident on Sunday evening led to the death of a six-month-old boy in the south suburbs of Chicago. The incident occurred when a single-vehicle rollover crash happened around 6 p.m. on Interstate 57 in Harvey, Illinois.
According to a statement from the Illinois State Police, eight people were traveling in the car at the time of the accident. Seven of them suffered injuries and were taken to a local hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, the infant, who was from Englewood, succumbed to his injuries after being rushed to Ingalls Memorial Hospital. His death was confirmed by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office later that night.
The accident prompted authorities to close northbound Interstate 57 and an entrance ramp from 147th Street for approximately five hours while an investigation took place. This closure affected traffic flow significantly as investigators worked to determine the cause of the crash.
