Search Ongoing for Missing Woman in Calumet River Incident
Rescuers are actively searching for a missing woman following a vehicle incident in the Riverdale neighborhood of Chicago. The incident occurred when a vehicle lost control and entered the Calumet River. Chicago police reported that the event happened around 2:30 a.m. on the 13000 block of South Indiana Avenue. The vehicle struck a barrier before ending up in the water.
Five adults managed to escape from the vehicle and reach safety on land, according to the police. A man, rescued by the Chicago Police Department Marine Unit, was transported to UChicago Medicine and is listed in serious condition.
As of 7 a.m., efforts to locate the missing woman were still underway. The Major Accidents Investigation Unit is conducting an investigation into the collision.
