Chicago police concluded a lengthy standoff in Logan Square that lasted from Monday afternoon into the early hours of Tuesday. The situation involved someone barricaded inside a home.
The police department deployed its SWAT team to the 3400 block of West Wrightwood Avenue after receiving an emergency call shortly before noon on Monday. This block is also home to former Mayor Lori Lightfoot, who confirmed she is safe and not involved in the incident. No other injuries have been reported in the area.
A witness informed the Tribune on Monday that officers were repeatedly communicating with a man in the building. They asked him to throw a rifle out of a window.
