Caleb Williams Injured in Chicago Bears Game
The Chicago Bears face uncertainty following the injury of quarterback Caleb Williams. Williams had to be assisted off the field by trainers after he limped during a game against the Minnesota Vikings. Once he reached the sideline, medical staff took him to the team’s tent and later transported him to the locker room for further examination.
Caleb Williams grabbed his right hamstring while trying to evade a tackle. Help was summoned quickly as he experienced considerable pain. The Bears confirmed Williams sustained a hamstring injury and did not return to compete in the match.
Upon leaving the field, Williams acknowledged the home supporters at Soldier Field with a thumbs up, but the impact of his injury on the team’s season remains uncertain until an MRI provides more information. Bears coach Ben Johnson expressed that further clarity is expected soon.
Hamstring injuries are concerning. A tear could mean a recovery period of 3-6 months, while a strain might require only 1-3 weeks. Backup quarterback Tyson Bagent stepped in to fill the gap after Williams exited the game.
The Bears lost the match against the Vikings, complicating a season initially filled with promise. Under Coach Johnson, Williams had made remarkable advancements, achieving an 11-6 record, securing the NFC North title, and leading the Bears to their first playoff presence since 2020. Williams set a franchise passing record and scored 31 total touchdowns.
Williams commenced the 2026 season energetically, completing 21 of 29 passes and registering 269 yards, two touchdowns, plus rushing for 65 yards and two additional scores, leading to a triumphant victory over Carolina.
Reflecting on the situation, Coach Johnson remarked, “I’m relieved it’s not a knee issue.” Despite the injury sounding routine, Coach Johnson recognizes the potential seriousness of a hamstring injury.
