Teen Boy in Critical Condition Following Shooting Incident
Authorities reported that a 14-year-old boy is in critical condition following a shooting incident on Friday afternoon in the West Ridge neighborhood. The event took place at approximately 3 p.m. on the 6300 block of North Rockwell Street, according to an initial notification from Chicago police.
A police source revealed that shots were fired from a blue Honda Accord, which then left the location. The boy suffered a gunshot wound to the neck and was transported to Lurie Children’s Hospital for medical treatment in critical condition. Officials have not confirmed whether he was the intended target of the shooter.
The boy’s parents were not harmed during the incident. However, officers from the Rogers Park (24th) District escorted them to the hospital, as reported by a police source. Belmont Area detectives are currently handling the investigation.
