The Clemson Tigers are once again on alert from the National Weather Service as they prepare to host No. 4 Miami on Saturday night. This alert comes after the Tigers experienced weather delays in their initial three games of the season.
The season opener was affected by nearly a two-hour delay before the Tigers faced a 51-10 defeat from LSU in Baton Rouge. A similar delay troubled Clemson during their Week 2 victory over Georgia Southern, which ended 22-7.
In Week 3, Clemson’s game against North Carolina was interrupted in the fourth quarter by a lightning delay. However, the Tigers used the break to rally and secure a 28-20 win.
The weather was favorable in Week 4, allowing Clemson to beat California 24-10, improving their record to 3-1.
As they gear up to face their first ranked opponent since LSU, Clemson is keenly monitoring weather conditions. Heavy rain and thunderstorms are anticipated, but no schedule changes have been made.
Chapel Fowler of The State Newspaper reported Clemson is closely observing the weather forecast. In a post on X, Fowler stated, “Per Clemson: The school is ‘monitoring potential inclement weather’ for Saturday’s game vs. No. 4 Miami, as heavy rain and thunderstorms are in the forecast. There are NO changes to kickoff time as of now (still 7:30 p.m. Saturday), but if anything changes, they’ll announce it.”
The initial weather delay in Week 1 did not favor Clemson. However, in Week 3, North Carolina’s offense struggled following a lightning delay, settling for a field goal after a promising drive. Given both Clemson and Miami are experienced with rainy conditions, weather may not provide an advantage this Saturday.
