Trump Calls for Investigations into Alleged ‘Paid Protesters’

President Donald Trump took to Truth Social on Sunday, calling for investigations into what he described as ‘paid protesters.’ His comments followed the circulation of a video online showing a woman appearing at multiple demonstrations.

Trump reposted social media content from conservative journalist Emily Miller. Miller has suggested that the same woman attended separate protests months apart. These protests were linked to two projects associated with Trump: one at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool and another at a proposed triumphal arch site.

The Reflecting Pool renovation was completed earlier this year. In contrast, the proposed 250-foot triumphal arch would be located near Arlington Memorial Bridge, between the Lincoln Memorial and Arlington National Cemetery.

Trump and Miller did not present evidence that the woman was compensated for her participation in the demonstrations or identify any potential financier.

In one Truth Social post, Trump expressed gratitude to Miller, noting that there were ‘many such people all over’ who try to ‘stop or defer Great Developments, Projects, and even Policies.’ He claimed Miller had caught the woman ‘REDHANDED.’

This is not the first time Trump has accused protestors opposing his initiatives of being paid. In June 2025, during protests in Los Angeles, he described some demonstrators as ‘paid insurrectionists’ and ‘paid troublemakers.’ He has made similar allegations regarding protests against his administration’s immigration policies, suggesting involvement of professional or paid agitators.
