Emmy Awards to Stream on Amazon Prime Next Year

The Emmy Awards, Hollywood’s grand event for television, will transition from traditional television broadcasting to streaming on Amazon Prime next year. This shift results from a newly formed six-year collaboration with Amazon. This partnership grants Amazon Prime the global broadcasting rights to the Emmy Awards ceremony.

The Television Academy announced this change on Tuesday, highlighting that the awards show will remain accessible in front of the streamer’s paywall. Viewers will have the ability to watch the event without needing to pay a fee. This ensures that the ceremony stays widely accessible.

Chris Pizzello of Invision/AP captured this evolving media landscape as a significant development for television’s prestigious awards ceremony.
