Frank Bisignano, the commissioner of the Social Security Administration (SSA), confidently stated on CNBC’s “Squawk Box” that the Social Security program is set to continue for another 90 years. The SSA has been providing stability for Americans since its inception, delivering benefits to millions of recipients.
The program will soon release its annual cost-of-living adjustment (COLA). This follows September’s inflation data reported by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). For the current year, the SSA increased benefits by 2.8 percent for about 75 million recipients. Looking ahead, the Senior Citizens League forecasts that the 2027 COLA will be 3.5 percent. This is projected to be one of the highest adjustments since 2008, potentially increasing the monthly average benefit from $1,941.76 to $2,009.72 based on current SSA data.
Despite the positive outlook for COLA, Bisignano highlighted concerns regarding the future funding of Social Security. He and others within the Trump administration have pointed out that starting in the early 2030s, the Old-Age and Survivors Insurance (OASI) Trust Fund might only cover 78 percent of scheduled benefits.

These developments underscore the ongoing dialogues surrounding business, politics, and international relations, reflecting the interconnectedness of these areas.
