On October 12, 2026, President Trump announced that he and his administration are contemplating the dismissal of Kimberly Guilfoyle from her role as U.S. ambassador to Greece. This follows allegations from an associate that she solicited $100,000 from him in return for her assistance with the Trump administration before her Senate confirmation hearing.
Responding to questions from reporters while en route to Ohio, President Trump acknowledged, “We’re looking at it. We’re not happy.”
Eric Deters, a businessman, informed CBS News that the request felt like a “pay-to-play” situation. He shared screenshots of text messages with Guilfoyle, which included a message appearing to request a wired payment. Deters stated he did not provide the funds, remarking, “Unfortunately for Kimberly Guilfoyle, at that time, at that moment in time, I didn’t have $100,000 to spare to give to Kimberly Guilfoyle, or I actually would have been a dumbass enough to do it.”
Guilfoyle’s lawyer contested the validity of the texts in a statement to The Wall Street Journal, which initially covered the story.
Appointed by President Trump, Guilfoyle became the U.S. ambassador to Greece in September 2025, following her confirmation hearing in July the same year. She is known as the former fiancée of Donald Trump Jr.
Recently, Guilfoyle was active during Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s visit to Greece. Her prominent presence further connects her tenure and activities as the ambassador to current diplomatic engagements.
A photograph capturing President Trump during a reception for Greek Independence Day at the White House in March 2026 showcased him alongside Kimberly Guilfoyle, highlighting her role as U.S. ambassador, along with other notable figures.
This story is still unfolding, and more updates will follow.
