Kai Trump Undergoes Successful Wrist Surgery
Kai Trump, President Trump’s eldest grandchild, recently had surgery for a wrist injury connected to her golf activities. The 19-year-old, who plays on the University of Miami women’s golf team, shared the successful procedure’s outcome on Instagram. She posted a picture from her hospital bed, displaying her left arm in a cast and sling.
The surgery followed an injury Kai sustained during her first tournament of the season. In her update, she explained her decision to undergo the procedure after consulting with her family, coaches, and athletic staff. She stated, “While I had hoped to avoid surgery, after talks with my family, coaches, and athletic training staff, I know I made the best decision for my long-term health and my future in the game I love.”
Kai expressed her determination to face this unexpected challenge, saying, “It’s certainly not how I envisioned the next few months, but sometimes the journey takes an unexpected turn, and I’m choosing to embrace this one with patience, and a whole lot of determination.”
The young athlete acknowledged her gratitude for being supported by people who encourage her growth during her recovery, “Having the right people by your side makes all the difference, and I couldn’t be more grateful.”
She also conveyed appreciation for her medical team at the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) in New York City. “A special thank you to Dr. Carlson and the incredible team at HSS in New York for taking such great care of me, and to my teammates, coaches, family, and everyone who has supported me along the way,” Kai said.
While focusing on healing, Kai is eager to return to her team, stating, “For now, it’s all about healing, and trusting the process. I can’t wait to be back with my team, doing what I love. I’ll be back before you know it, stronger and more grateful than ever! Go Canes!”
Previously, in a “Fox & Friends” interview, Kai shared that she had wrist surgery six months ago and expressed nervousness about starting her freshman year and Division I golf career at the University of Miami. “[I’m] a little nervous, I’m not gonna lie, but I’m ready for the next chapter,” she said.
Kai also recognized her mother and grandfather, the president, as influences on her competitive nature, stating, “My mom’s competitive, too, but definitely Grandpa’s very competitive.”
