Oregon head coach Dan Lanning is currently gathering information regarding the arrest of Ducks’ wide receiver Evan Stewart. Lanning committed to taking “appropriate action” once all necessary details are obtained. He emphasized that the matter would be managed internally, stating, “There will be appropriate action taken… But that would be handled internally.” Lanning refused to answer further questions on the subject.
Stewart was arrested early Sunday on charges of driving under the influence, shortly after Oregon’s win against Nebraska. He was booked into Springfield Municipal Jail, according to police records. Lanning acknowledged that the incident overshadowed the team’s victory.
“There was an incident this weekend that didn’t match our standard here in our program,” Lanning said.
Stewart, who was unable to play against Nebraska due to an injury, has recorded 27 receptions for 352 yards and four touchdowns this season. He previously missed the entirety of last season following a right patellar tendon tear.
Oregon is set to face Illinois in a Big Ten matchup amid uncertainty about star quarterback Dante Moore’s status, as Moore has been recovering from a concussion. Despite participating in practice before Oregon’s Week 6 game with UCLA, he did not play. Brock Thoman and Dylan Raiola filled in during Oregon’s recent games, including the matchup against Nebraska.
