“There have been many negative plays,” Barber commented. “Misreading the run game and rushing it. Issues like knowing protection responsibilities on third downs are crucial. These things might not be obvious to fans, but I think Cam Skattebo has had several such errors this season.”

Barber’s opinion hints at more profound behind-the-scenes problems affecting Skattebo’s game. With the Giants releasing former Pro Bowler Najee Harris and dealing with the inconsistency of Tyrone Tracy Jr., the need for a reliable running back is apparent.

Skattebo is considered the best back for the Giants, but his challenges on and off the field this year have not helped his standing. If Barber’s insights hold any truth, Skattebo might need to focus on eliminating his mistakes, securing the ball, and demonstrating improvement to head coach John Harbaugh after a rocky start to the season.
