Houston Incident: Fraudulent Boarding Pass and Felony Charge
A Houston man faces serious charges after allegedly using a fake boarding pass at George Bush Intercontinental Airport. Abdulrahman Oriyomi, 25, is charged with interrupting operations of a critical facility.
The incident occurred on May 18, causing a United Airlines flight to return to the gate and delay passengers for around three hours. Multiple agencies responded, including the FBI and TSA.
Investigators claim Oriyomi tried to use a boarding pass at two separate gates. At the second gate, when employees were distracted, he boarded the aircraft.
Passenger testimony revealed Oriyomi moved about in the aircraft. Flight attendants identified he lacked an assigned seat, prompting the plane’s return to the gate.
Upon review, the boarding pass found on Oriyomi’s phone lacked key data and a QR code, marking it as fraudulent.
Legal and Security Reactions
Prosecutors seek a $25,000 bond due to the flight delay. Requested conditions include passport surrender, refraining from airport visits, and potential electronic monitoring.
The case, under review in Harris County’s 180th District Court, remains pending. Neither United Airlines nor Houston Airports have commented.
