Kennedy Center Trustees Challenge Judge’s Order on Name Removal
The Kennedy Center’s board has decided to contest a federal judge’s order that mandates removing President Donald Trump’s name from the building. On Thursday, the trustees voted to request an urgent stay of the directive by U.S. District Judge Christopher Cooper. This move aims to delay the order to take down Trump’s name from the performing arts center’s exterior by Friday.
This decision emerged as the trustees plan to appeal Judge Cooper’s ruling. The ruling declared the renaming of the center illegal. The information about the trustees’ decision comes from a meeting attendee and an individual briefed by an attendee, both of whom preferred to remain anonymous due to concerns of retribution.
