Tycen Proper, a 19-year-old from Ohio, faces serious charges after authorities intervened in a planned attack. Proper is accused of attempted murder of a federal officer and conspiracy to commit an offense against the U.S., according to court records.
Proper’s arrest is linked to several others connected to the plan targeting the UFC Freedom 250 event at the White House. The event was set to celebrate the nation’s 250th anniversary.
Investigators conducted interviews where Proper allegedly confessed to collaborating with others to execute a coordinated attack during the UFC event on the White House lawn in Washington, D.C., on June 14, 2026.
The affidavit also mentions Proper’s mother, who disclosed his involvement with an online group. This group reportedly consisted of individuals claiming ex-military backgrounds and Christian affiliations.
The group allegedly held extreme religious and antigovernment views, as outlined in the affidavit.
FBI Director Kash Patel shared on X that authorities were alerted to the threat on June 10. He confirmed that multiple arrests have been made, effectively halting the intended attacks.
Newsweek contacted Proper’s public defender for comments via email.
