Aaron Donald Considers Return to the Rams

Speculation is rising in the NFC West as Aaron Donald, a former three-time Defensive Player of the Year, considers rejoining the Los Angeles Rams. This potential comeback is causing concern among opposing quarterbacks, including Brock Purdy, Sam Darnold, and Jacoby Brissett.

Donald retired happily two years ago. However, the Rams’ acquisition of Myles Garrett, the reigning sack leader, has sparked Donald’s interest in an NFL return. The thought of facing both Donald and Garrett is unsettling for quarterbacks across the NFC.

Jared Goff, quarterback for the Detroit Lions and a former teammate of Donald, expressed his apprehensions on the “Green Light With Chris Long” podcast. When asked about Donald’s potential impact, Goff jokingly hoped for zero involvement from Donald. He recalled a playoff victory against the Rams, thinking he had seen the last of Donald as an opponent.

“If he comes back, I’m sure he’ll help them a lot. We might see them in the playoffs, and I can’t say enough good things about him,” Goff stated.

Goff and Donald were teammates from 2016 to 2020, a period during which the Rams reached the playoffs three times and made one Super Bowl appearance. Since Goff’s trade to Detroit in 2021, he has faced the Rams twice, securing one win—a 24-23 playoff victory in 2023, which was Donald’s last game before retirement.
