Adam Copeland Shines at Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling’s Northern Rising

Adam Copeland returned to Toronto to fulfill a childhood dream at Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling’s Northern Rising event. Throughout his career, Copeland dreamed of performing at the Maple Leaf Gardens, a venue where he first experienced professional wrestling. Although WWE rerouted their events to larger arenas, this opportunity finally materialized with the support of Maple Leaf Wrestling and All Elite Wrestling (AEW).

Competing against Steve Maclin, one of wrestling’s top free agents, Copeland engaged in an intense street fight. Despite his age, he displayed impressive athleticism, delivering high-risk moves. He suplexed Maclin onto a ladder and executed a top-turnbuckle splash, driving Maclin through a table. Maclin countered by suplexing Copeland onto a ladder, leading to numerous jaw-dropping moments.

The match saw interference from Deonna Purrazzo, Maclin’s wife, who temporarily blinded Copeland and the referee. Wrestling legend Rhino intervened, leveling the field by spearing Maclin and Purrazzo. Regaining control, Copeland’s signature moves, including a running spear through the ropes, led him to victory.

After the match, Copeland gave credit to Maclin for his efforts and addressed the audience, expressing the significance of performing at Maple Leaf Gardens.

Undisputed MLP Canadian Championship

Before Copeland’s bout, Josh Alexander and Stu Grayson clashed for the Undisputed MLP Canadian Championship. Alexander, returning from a knee injury, faced off against Grayson, the interim champion. The high-stakes match was marked by risky maneuvers, with both competitors attempting game-changing moves from the top rope.

In a pivotal moment, Don Callis attempted to provide Alexander with a screwdriver. Although foiled by the referee, Alexander acquired the weapon and used it to turn the tide in his favor, ultimately executing two C4 piledrivers to secure the championship.

Women’s and National Championships

Priscilla Kelly defended her MLP Canadian Women’s Championship against Nikki Storm. Demonstrating dominance, Kelly controlled the match from the start, employing powerful kicks and strikes. Kelly’s victory extended her championship reign past 55 days.

In another pivotal match, Andrade El Idolo defended the AEW National Championship against Rohan Raja. Though Raja challenged Andrade, the champion’s experience and ring skills prevailed. Raja’s efforts earned Andrade’s respect, with a post-match handshake affirming Raja’s future potential.

Tag Team Championship

The Grizzled Young Veterans captured the MLP Canadian Tag Team Championship in a three-way match against 1st Faction and Sinner & Saint. Despite interference attempts, Drake and Gibson overcame the challenges to become the new champions, ending 1st Faction’s 191-day reign.
