Nearly five years have passed since the Taliban prohibited girls over age 12 from attending school in Afghanistan. New restrictions seem to surface regularly, aiming to limit women’s freedoms. Despite this, Afghan women continue to resist.
Special correspondent Leila Molana-Allen, along with videographer Eric O’Connor, visited an underground school in Kabul. Their aim was to capture the stories of women bravely confronting the restrictive laws.
These women risk their lives daily, engaging in acts of protest against oppressive regulations. Their courage and determination to fight for education have become symbols of resistance in Afghanistan.
Leila Molana-Allen, whose reporting spans the Middle East and Africa, offers crucial insights. Based in the region for a decade, her work highlights the ongoing struggles and resilience of Afghan women.
