Andrus Peat Retires from NFL After 11 Seasons

Pro Bowl offensive lineman Andrus Peat announced his retirement from the NFL in a social media post on Friday. At 32, Peat concluded an 11-season career that began when the New Orleans Saints picked him 13th overall in the 2015 NFL Draft from Stanford.

In his Instagram post, Peat reflected, “11 years in the league, I gave it everything I had. I may be walking away from football, but not from the lessons it taught me. Thank you to my coaches, teammates, and especially my brothers in the trenches. I’m grateful beyond words that I was able to live out this dream.”

Peat spent his first nine seasons with the Saints, mainly as their starting left guard. He was selected for the Pro Bowl three consecutive times between 2018 and 2020, contributing to the Saints winning four straight NFC South titles from 2017 to 2020.

After leaving the Saints following the 2023 season, Peat joined the Las Vegas Raiders, adding depth to their offensive line. He played 15 games with them, starting one. Later, he played for the Pittsburgh Steelers in a backup role, appearing in six games and starting three.

In his post, Peat mentioned moving on to the next chapter with his family, stating, “On to the next chapter with my wife and sons. All glory to God!”

His wife, Ashley, expressed her pride and gratitude in a comment beneath his post: “We are SO proud of you baby!!!! Thank you for everything you sacrificed and worked so hard to provide for us all these years. Can’t wait to enjoy this next chapter with you,” she wrote.
