Angel Reese voiced her frustration after a challenging start in the Atlanta Dream’s match against the Indiana Fever on Sunday night. Reese ended the first half having missed all six of her attempts from the field, and the Dream was leading by just four points at halftime. However, Reese played a vital role in a 17-4 run that helped her team close out the first half strong.
During a halftime interview with ESPN’s Holly Rowe, Reese openly discussed her performance, acknowledging her rough start by saying, “I was playing like s— in the beginning, but it’s a game of runs.” She emphasized the importance of relying on teammates, mentioning Allisha Gray, Madina Okot, and Rhyne Howard as crucial contributors at that moment.
Gray emerged as the Dream’s top scorer against the Fever, amassing 21 points by the third quarter. Okot contributed by adding six points off the bench, along with six rebounds, a steal, and a block. Reese praised the team’s collective effort, saying, “Just playing together, playing collectively and let our defense speak for itself.”
Reese wrapped up the first half with seven points on 3-of-10 shooting and nine rebounds. When Rowe inquired about her adjustment after a slow start, Reese responded, “Taking my time. Woosah. And just trusting my work.”
This season marks Reese’s third with the WNBA and her third All-Star appearance. She has been instrumental for the Dream, who are holding a 21-12 record in 2026, achieving an impressive average of 15.6 points and 12.0 rebounds per game over 32 games. The match against the Fever is a crucial one, with both teams competing for first place in the East.
