Angel Reese’s Memorable Performance and Media Attention
Angel Reese has been in the limelight for weeks, largely due to Sophie Cunningham’s recent attention-grabbing performances. Rather than compete for off-court fame, Reese chose to make her mark with her basketball skills. Unfortunately, this strategy resulted in an unforgettable, if not regrettable, moment on the court.
On Monday night, Reese went viral for one of the most talked-about basketball shots. The clip, widely shared, captured Reese’s attempt that some consider among the worst in the game’s history, spanning the WNBA, NBA, and beyond.
Despite this, Reese’s overall performance in the game against the Las Vegas Aces on August 3, 2026, was noteworthy. She ended the game with impressive stats, recording 23 points on 10-19 shooting and securing 16 rebounds, a testament to her skill and determination. Two of those points and one rebound came directly after her viral shot.
Reese’s recent comments during a media availability before the Atlanta Dream’s “Barbie Game Day” also generated buzz. Sitting beside a Barbie doll crafted in her likeness, Reese reflected on her childhood. She recalled a lack of dolls resembling her, which motivated her to ensure this Barbie representation was intentional and inspiring for young girls.
Despite Reese’s claims, Mattel had introduced dolls like Christie, a Black character, in 1968. The officially named Black Barbie arrived in 1980, pre-dating Reese’s birth by over two decades.
