Ariana Grande Steps Back from Public Life
Ariana Grande has decided to step away from an upcoming stage musical in London. The producers shared that she seeks to retreat from public life for a period. Grande was set to perform alongside Jonathan Bailey in Stephen Sondheim’s “Sunday in the Park with George” at the Barbican Centre in 2027.
Empire Street Productions confirmed her withdrawal, stating, “We know this cannot have been an easy decision, and she makes it with our complete understanding and support.” The company reassured that the production will proceed next summer, with casting updates to follow.
Her representative informed People magazine that the 33-year-old singer intends to reduce her public visibility after concluding the Eternal Sunshine Tour. The statement emphasized her desire to finish the tour positively and to then take a well-earned break from public scrutiny.
Although no details were provided, discussions about Grande’s physical appearance and health have persistently circulated. This intensified following the release of her “Petal” music video, where she portrays an aspirant repeatedly turned down by male judges. Grande had previously addressed appearance-related comments.
“My face is sitting, I don’t need no disguise / Don’t comment on my body, do not reply / Your business is yours, and mine is mine,”
she sang in her 2024 track, “Yes, And?” In 2023, after facing comments on her looks, she posted a message on TikTok urging compassion, which quickly gained popularity.
“Even if you are coming from a loving place and a caring place, that person probably is working on it or has a support system that they are working on it with,” Grande remarked. “So, be gentle with each other and with yourselves.”
Ariana Grande is scheduled to conclude her current tour in London on Sept. 1. Her career began as a young actor on Nickelodeon. She released her first album, “Yours Truly,” in 2013. Grande has received three Grammy Awards and an Academy Award nomination for her role in the “Wicked” film adaptation.
