The Baltimore Ravens made significant waves during the NFL offseason. Initially, they agreed to trade two first-round picks to the Las Vegas Raiders in exchange for edge-rusher Maxx Crosby.
Shortly after, the situation took an unexpected turn when the team withdrew from the trade. This decision came after reports surfaced that Crosby had failed his physical examination.
To counter the setback, the Ravens quickly signed Pro Bowl defensive end Trey Hendrickson. The contract was set for four years and valued at $112 million. Many viewed this move as an effort to recover from what seemed to be a costly misstep.
The potential trade occurred due to Crosby’s earlier request. Despite this fallout, tension between Crosby and the Raiders appears to be minimal. NFL insider Jason La Canfora reported that Crosby is focused on his recovery, working independently and showing progress.
La Canfora noted, “Crosby is preparing intensely, aiming for a strong season despite the public breakdown of his trade to the Ravens.” However, he was not expected to be cleared for full participation in football activities by the time May’s organized practices began.
Some analysts predicted the Raiders might quickly seek another trade solution due to Crosby’s initial trade request. Yet, current opinions suggest Crosby will stay with the Raiders, honoring his four-year, $116 million contract, which includes a potential out in 2027.
An anonymous NFL general manager shared insights with La Canfora, stating, “He’s set to begin the season in Vegas and likely will perform exceptionally well.” Although trade talks might arise before the deadline, it seems unlikely Crosby will be moved soon.
