Myles Garrett, the standout defensive end for the Cleveland Browns, is on his way to the Los Angeles Rams in a significant trade. This move has captured the attention of football fans nationwide. In return, the Browns will receive Pro Bowl pass rusher Jared Verse, a 2027 first-round pick, and a 2028 second-rounder, alongside additional assets.
Nothing is final at this point,
stated Browns general manager Andrew Berry during a break at the Cleveland Browns Foundation’s 26th annual golf tournament. Berry mentioned ongoing discussions regarding the potential transaction involving Garrett. He expressed hope to finalize the deal within hours.
This trade adds another layer to the Rams’ Super Bowl aspirations for the 2026 season. Previously, the team had bolstered its roster by acquiring Pro Bowl cornerback Trent McDuffie from the Kansas City Chiefs. Additionally, they signed Jaylen Watson in free agency and drafted quarterback Ty Simpson in the first round.
Garrett’s resume is impressive. He is a two-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year and holds the league record for most sacks in a season, achieving 23 sacks in 2025. This record-setting performance surpassed those by Hall of Fame pass rushers like Reggie White and Lawrence Taylor.
Jared Verse, on the other hand, is a rising star. At 25, he’s emerging as one of the NFL’s top edge rushers. His impact extends beyond sack numbers, as evidenced by his NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year award in 2024 and back-to-back Pro Bowl appearances. Verse’s ability to exert pressure on quarterbacks is pivotal, registering 100 quarterback pressures, the second-highest in the league, in 2025.
This transaction provides the Browns with two first-round picks in 2027, a selection draft they see as valuable for future talent acquisition. As they plan for the future, the Rams focus on winning the upcoming Super Bowl.
