Boston Red Sox Introduce Plans for Adley Rutschman’s Return

On Friday, Boston Red Sox interim manager Chad Tracy shared significant news about the team’s latest acquisition. Adley Rutschman, recently brought in from the Baltimore Orioles, is set to advance in his recovery from left wrist discomfort. He will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Worcester this Saturday.

Rutschman plans to catch for five innings, marking his first game appearance since July 18. The Worcester Red Sox (Woo Sox) excitedly announced his participation on social media. His plan includes getting at least two at-bats during the game.

While Boston isn’t counting heavily on Rutschman’s quick lineup return, the team’s offense has excelled. They have averaged six runs per game over an 18-3 run since July 17. However, current catchers Connor Wong and Jake Rogers have provided limited offensive production, combining for a below-average OPS+.

Rutschman has shown improvement at the plate despite time on the injured list, boasting a .251/.331/.433 slash line and an 115 OPS+. Adding a player with his capability both offensively and defensively would be a welcome enhancement for the team.
