Brush Fire Erupts in Burbank Hills, Prompting Evacuations
A brush fire ignited in the Burbank hills on Saturday afternoon. Local police and fire services responded swiftly to the scene near Wildwood Canyon and Harvard Road shortly after 3:20 p.m.
Firefighters named the incident the Walnut fire, occurring close to DeBell Golf Club and Wildwood Canyon Park. Authorities ordered evacuations for areas immediately threatened by the flames.
A city statement announced, “DeBell Restaurant and Golf Course and Stough Canyon Nature Center are closed. Hiking trails will remain inaccessible until further notice. Additionally, the Starlight Bowl concert planned for August 8 has been canceled.”
Currently, the fire has consumed approximately 20 acres. Efforts to control the blaze continue, and developments are unfolding.
