Caitlin Clark Sets New WNBA Record with 600th Assist

Caitlin Clark continues to distinguish herself as one of the most extraordinary players in the WNBA, accomplishing significant feats more rapidly than her peers. On Sunday, during a 109-75 victory against the Las Vegas Aces, Clark recorded her 600th assist. She accomplished this milestone in just 72 games, setting a new WNBA record.

In the Indiana Fever’s decisive win, Clark contributed 12 points, seven rebounds, and six assists despite not having a standout performance. Her minutes were limited to 24 as she managed a lingering back injury, yet she still helped secure a 34-point victory. Kelsey Mitchell, Aliyah Boston, and Sophie Cunningham led the scoring efforts.

Mitchell scored 27 points, the highest among the Fever players. Boston achieved a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Cunningham made a significant impact from the bench, adding 20 points and sinking six 3-pointers.

Clark achieved her historic assist late in the third quarter with a bounce pass to Monique Billings for a straightforward inside layup. At this stage of the game, the Fever were ahead by 13 points and extended their lead further in the fourth quarter.

Even with her minutes restriction, Clark expressed optimism about managing her injury. “I feel good. Had a hard workout day after the Phoenix game. Felt great there, and then obviously, we had practice yesterday. So, feel ready to go, and excited to play 25 minutes, and excited for my spurts to be a little bit longer, so that should be fun,” Clark said to reporters.

Clark’s journey to 600 assists was impressive. She recorded more than half of them with 337 assists in her rookie year. Despite a challenging 2025 season due to injuries, where she made only 115 assists, she has accumulated 148 assists this season. This performance marks her as the second-highest in assists per game, trailing only Alyssa Thomas from the Phoenix Mercury.
