Cedric Alexander successfully defended his Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) X Division Championship at Slammiversary. The event featured Alexander in the intense Ultimate X match, marking the 55th such match in TNA history.
Alexander faced skilled opponents including Amazing Red, Frankie Kazarian, Fabian Aichner, Leon Slater, KC Navarro, and Mr. Elegance. Notably, this match marked Amazing Red’s first TNA appearance in approximately 15 years.
To claim victory, competitors were required to climb pillars and traverse cables high above the ring to grasp the championship belt.
During the match, Alexander, Kazarian, Red, and Aichner simultaneously pursued the belt. As Alexander slipped, he managed to take down Aichner, causing Red and Kazarian to fall to the mat, showcasing their resilience despite the setback. Mr. Elegance made an attempt to capitalize on the situation, but KC Navarro thwarted his efforts.
Amazing Red reentered the ring, executing a Code Red against Navarro, followed by Kazarian. After an attempt at the title, Slater intercepted Red. Slater gained momentum, realizing his path to victory was blocked. He performed a double blockbuster to incapacitate Aichner, Elegance, Kazarian, and Navarro. Racing against Red for the title, Slater managed to unhook the belt while both competitors dangled from the wires.
However, Alexander seized the opportunity to snatch the belt from Slater, securing his victory as neither Slater nor Red touched the mat.
Leon Slater had previously held the title, which Alexander took from him, preventing Slater’s historical attempt.
Cedric Alexander now retains the X Division Championship after this dramatic defense.
