Celebrating America’s 250th with Special-Edition Treats
As America approaches its 250th birthday, various brands are unveiling special-edition products to mark the occasion. Among them, Superpretzel is introducing a star-shaped pretzel, acknowledging the celebration’s significance. According to Lynwood Mallard from J&J Snack Foods, this offering aims to be simple, fun, and shareable for families during summer festivities.
The star-shaped pretzel is produced in the Philadelphia area, a region connected to America’s founding. Superpretzel emphasizes the snack’s historical roots, with each piece coming from ‘Pretzel Country.’ Available at numerous venues, including sports and amusement parks, these pretzels can also be found in grocery stores nationwide. The company recommends using an air fryer for an added crispiness in preparation. The pretzels will debut on Memorial Day and be available through September.
Other brands have joined the America 250 celebration with patriotic-themed offerings. Maker’s Mark will release a bourbon bottle featuring its signature red wax, white wax accents, and a blue seal. A portion of proceeds will support the Farmer Veteran Coalition, aiding U.S. veterans in agriculture careers.
Pillsbury is introducing Funfetti Stars & Stripes products with festive cake mixes and frostings in patriotic hues. Similarly, Sparkling Ice is partnering with Life Savers to offer a red, white, and blue variety pack of sparkling water and collaborating with rapper Flavor Flav for a touch of nostalgia.
This summer, Coca-Cola will feature special America 250 packaging on mini-cans and bottles, highlighting all 50 states and Puerto Rico. Cheerios plans to release a birthday cake-flavored cereal with commemorative packaging. Mountain Dew, rebranded as ‘American Dew,’ will don stars and stripes on its bottles to honor the occasion.
Oreo also joins the festivity with its Firecracker Pop Oreo. Developed in partnership with Popsicle, this new treat includes a red, white, and blue crème with blue raspberry, lemon, and cherry flavors between golden Oreo cookies.
As the nation prepares to celebrate, these brands provide unique ways for consumers to participate in the commemoration.
