Swedish performer Matilda Lindell marks her 18th year on stage, recognized for her vibrant performances as a tribute to Agnetha Fältskog. Leading the celebrated tour ‘ABBA The Concert,’ Lindell, along with her ensemble, will headline at the Hard Rock Casino Northern Indiana.
Speaking from New York, Lindell shared her excitement about returning to the U.S. to perform, reminiscing about the unique energy of American audiences. ‘ABBA The Concert,’ formed in 1999 with a Swedish cast, has evolved through the years with Lindell a prominent member since age 26.
She often performs with co-vocalists Elisabet Karlsson or Mia Ternström, with Martin Håkansson and Matte Andersson assuming roles as Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, respectively. The 90-minute concert features ABBA’s iconic songs like ‘Mamma Mia,’ ‘S.O.S,’ and ‘Dancing Queen.’
Lindell highlights the special costumes worn during the ‘Waterloo’ performance, recreated by original ABBA costume designer Owe Sandström. These painted cat costumes have become a cultural symbol, designed initially in collaboration with ABBA for their ‘Waterloo’ debut in 1974.
Lindell’s career began in her teens on the Swedish TV show ‘Tre kronor.’ She expresses a love for both touring and potential television and film opportunities.
“I love my touring life, but I’d also love to do television and films once again,” Lindell stated.
A common challenge for Lindell during live performances is the varying stage conditions, especially with fog and haze effects. While such effects enhance the visual experience, they can impact her singing.
Tickets for ‘ABBA The Concert’ start at $33.15, with all attendees needing to be 21 years or older. More details can be found on the Hard Rock Casino Northern Indiana’s website or by calling 219-228-2383.
