Singer Celine Dion returned to the stage, launching her ‘Celine Dion Paris 2026’ residency at Plenitude Arena in Nanterre, near Paris. This comes four years after she shared her struggle with a rare condition. The Canadian star commenced her Paris residency with ‘On Ne Change Pas’ on Saturday, September 12th, 2026.
After performing the opening song, Dion was visibly moved, tears filling her eyes. ‘I had promised myself not to cry,’ she expressed to the audience, according to Variety. ‘Thank you for coming. If it’s your first time in Paris, I hope you fall in love with it as I did. Finally, it’s amazing we are all together. I made a promise to be back on stage, and here I am, singing for you and singing for me, singing live!’
Video footage reveals Dion wearing a black dress with her hair in a bun. She performed hits such as ‘Because You Loved Me’ and ‘Power of Love.’ The concert also featured ‘My Heart Will Go On’ from the ‘Titanic’ soundtrack. Prior to the event, Dion shared an Instagram Story featuring a photo of herself smiling with hands raised, captioned ‘En route!’
Dion, hailing from Quebec, a French-speaking area in Canada, enjoys immense popularity in France. Her residency’s concerts are sold out, projected to generate significant revenue for the region. In 2022, the Grammy winner disclosed her diagnosis of stiff person syndrome, a rare neurological condition causing muscle stiffness and spasms.
She previously mentioned that the disorder impacts her daily life, complicating walking and affecting her vocal cords. In 2020, her tour was interrupted by Covid-19, though she performed at the Paris Olympics opening ceremony in July 2024.
