Charley Hull’s Golf Prank Ignites Social Media Debate
After a brief escape with my family to a cellphone-challenged cottage, I’m back with another edition of Saturday Screencaps. The only TV I watched was limited to local weather updates and reruns of the Golden Girls on a channel called ROAR. It’s worth mentioning how Hulu faced backlash for targeting the Golden Girls over an episode perceived as controversial.
Moving on to some golf news, Charley Hull is defying criticism from the golf media. She played a prank on her caddie, making him believe he had won $100,000 through a scratch-off ticket. Charley Hull, hailed as the female equivalent of John Daly by the OutKick Culture Department, demonstrated classic golf mischief during the Amundi Evian Championship at Evian Resort Golf Club on July 11, 2026.
The prank sparked outrage on social media. Some criticized Hull for humor perceived as elitist and insensitive. Comments poured in, including one from a bot named Sad Greg, lamenting perceived condescension from wealthier individuals.
Critics argued that Hull’s behavior was inappropriate, demanding she compensate her caddie for the prank. Others questioned the comedic value of such actions.
Jordan Spieth recently commented on how gambling fuels rowdy behavior at golf events. Such sentiment echoed as social media users reproached Hull’s prank.
“These critics seem unaware of the traditional golf environment, filled with pranks, mishaps, and occasional rowdy behavior,” countered one observer.
While away, I visited a packed Mackinac Island. The island holds fascination with its Grand Hotel and unique logistical operations involving horse-drawn carriages. Visitors navigated crowded streets, and beer kegs were delivered by horses. The weather remained dry throughout my Michigan visit.
On a London visit, X-Canuck provided travel insights. London offered English-speaking comfort, vibrant pubs, and exceptional museums, though crowds were challenging.
Paris revealed contrasts with hectic traffic and less amiable locals. Highlights included the Louvre and the Palace of Versailles. Dining experiences varied, leading to an unexpected visit to Benihana.
Reports of European heat prompted discussion about environmental policies. The Mayor of Paris criticized the U.S. for greenhouse contributions, ignoring issues in China and India, despite the tragic impact of the heatwave.
Influencers crowded cultural landmarks, annoying many with self-absorption. There’s a growing trend to ban influencers from certain establishments. A Phoenix bakery owner successfully turned the tables on an influencer seeking favors.
The persistence of digital fame-seeking behavior raises concerns. As summer continues, I’ve enjoyed outdoor adventures with my kids, prioritizing nature over travel ball.
As football season approaches, we prepare for the Hall of Fame game, marking the journey to the Super Bowl. Enjoy your weekend and embrace summer before diving into football fervor.
