The Chicago White Sox displayed outstanding performances from their outfielders in a decisive 10-4 win over the Texas Rangers at Rate Field. On Wednesday, left fielder Tristan Peters contributed significantly, going 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBIs, and two runs. This marked his fifth consecutive game with a home run, tying a franchise record.
Center fielder Brenton Doyle added two hits, including a three-run homer, and collected four RBIs. Right fielder Braden Montgomery also made an impact with an RBI double and scored twice. These contributions helped the White Sox secure two of the three games in the series. Manager Will Venable praised the team, saying, “It was one of those days that everyone contributed. Up and down the lineup, we had some good stuff going.”
The White Sox maintained their lead in the American League Central, sitting 2 1/2 games ahead of the Cleveland Guardians. The game saw the Chicago White Sox’s right fielder, Braden Montgomery, catch a crucial fly ball to end the top of the fifth inning.
Despite dealing with eight walks across three-plus innings from starter Sean Burke, the Sox triumphed. Burke conceded two runs on two hits with three strikeouts and eight walks. He expressed his dissatisfaction, labeling it “pretty terrible” and noted, “You see how good our team is. The guys picked me up.”
The bullpen showed resilience, with Sean Newcomb delivering three scoreless innings and Jonathan Cannon securing the save, giving up two runs in three innings. Offensively, the team stayed aggressive, scoring three or four runs against a strong pitcher, Rangers starter MacKenzie Gore, who allowed four runs in 3 2/3 innings.
Montgomery’s RBI double was a key highlight during a two-run second inning. Peters doubled and scored in a two-run fourth inning, later hitting a two-run homer to extend the lead to 6-2. This matched the franchise record, a milestone shared with notable past players.
Doyle’s three-run homer occurred in a four-run sixth inning. Doyle reflected on his performance, stating, “I felt good all night. Felt super confident and got a good one.”
The White Sox concluded their homestand positively with a 4-3 record. Manager Will Venable appreciated the series win, mentioning the challenging stretch of 16 games in 16 days, “These guys are working hard, so it’s nice to get a series win.”
