CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer offered a correction regarding comments made on U.S. troops and mail-in voting. During a conversation on The Situation Room, Blitzer falsely indicated that mail-in voting policies would affect military personnel overseas.
Blitzer spoke with Virginia Governor Abigail Spanberger about a lawsuit aiming to stop President Donald Trump’s actions on mail-in voting. Spanberger emphasized that these voting practices provide a secure method for Americans to participate and expressed concerns about the administration’s approach.
Governor Spanberger mentioned the reliance of military members on mail-in ballots due to their overseas postings. Blitzer agreed, leading to the false impression that these voters would be subject to the new federal directives.
Later, Blitzer clarified that the executive order from March would not impact military ballots. He highlighted the Uniformed and Overseas Absentee Voting Act, which protects these voters.
The correction was discussed during The Situation Room as Blitzer acknowledged his mistake regarding the exemption of military ballots from postal regulations.
