Community Support Rescues Arizona Doughnut Shop

The Local Donut, a doughnut shop in Scottsdale, Arizona, recently faced the risk of closure. Owner Daniel Tes shared his struggles with the community, which rallied to support the business.

Despite operating successfully for 10 years, the shop encountered financial hurdles this summer. Tes mentioned that while small businesses often face challenges, this year was unusually difficult.

“After spring training, we felt the pressure to prepare for the summer, and we couldn’t keep up,” Tes explained. “Last week was our worst. We couldn’t make payroll.”

Faced with this dire situation, Tes appealed for help through social media, requesting assistance from the community and divine guidance.

The response was overwhelming. The following day, customers packed the shop. Other local businesses joined by prepaying for their patrons, showcasing solidarity with Tes.

“There are many selfless, generous people out there,” Tes remarked, appreciating the support he received.

Customers, like regular Harris Dozier, expressed relief that the shop was able to remain open. “They offer great options and have friendly staff, making it a great quick stop for a doughnut,” Dozier said.

Thanks to the community’s generous response, The Local Donut continues to operate. Tes looks forward to serving his customers for many more years and aims to reciprocate the kindness he received.

“People are there to help out, and I definitely want to repay that kindness,” Tes stated.
