The families of Karmelo Anthony and Austin Metcalf have reacted strongly to Anthony’s recent murder conviction. While Anthony’s parents describe the trial as unjust, Jeff Metcalf, father of the victim, offers forgiveness to Anthony.
Following the verdict, Jeff Metcalf expressed both anger and sorrow, stating, “I had a little bit of sorrow because I’m human; and that poor boy is fixing to experience a life that I would not wish upon anyone.” Karmelo Anthony was sentenced to 35 years in prison after fatally stabbing Metcalf during a high school track meet altercation last April. Anthony has filed an appeal.
In an interview, Anthony’s parents claimed their son was not given a fair trial. His father, Andrew Anthony, commented on the ordeal, saying, “They did a number on us. We didn’t get justice.” He mentioned that they were instructed on how to proceed but felt things were not handled properly.

The case has caused turmoil for both families, with threats and harassment being a constant reality. In August, a SWAT team responded to a 911 call at the Metcalf residence in Frisco, Texas. Jeff Metcalf has continued receiving death threats and experienced a breach of his personal information.
Despite these challenges, supporters for both families have emerged. Outside the Collin County Courthouse, public reactions varied when the verdict was announced. Meanwhile, Austin Metcalf’s last social media post saw renewed attention, while supporters of Karmelo Anthony have created an Instagram fan page.
Fox News Digital attempted to contact both families for further comments.
